2020 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE)
Boys who sat 2020 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) have performed slightly better than their female counterparts for Soroti district, according to the results released Friday last week by the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) at State House. A total of 5,163 candidates in Soroti district sat for the 2020 PLE. At least 155 pupils passed in division 1(one), 92 were boys and 63 girls. 1,705 candidates got division 2(two), 921 were boys and 784 girls. 1,623 candidates passed in division 3(three), 757 boys, 866 girls. 1,007 candidates got division 4(four), 443 boys, 564 girls. 640 candidates got division U, 258 Boys and 382 girls. 33 candidates got division X, 10 boys and 23 girls. Mildred Loyce Icimu, the Acting District Inspector of Schools-DIS says the results are not pleasing, she however attributes the poor performances to Covid-19 that impacted the education negatively most pupils from the rural schools. In 2009, 136 pupils got division 1(one), 1,937 got division 2(two), 1532 got division 3(three), 699 got division 4(four), 274 division U, and 29 division X.
