USSSA BALL GAMES 2 ARE UNDERWAY IN TESO COLLEGE ALOET -TCA, IN SOROTI.

The 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games 2 are underway in Teso College Aloet -TCA, in Soroti.

The two-week long championship that was officially launched last week on Thursday, 11th July, has attracted a total of 6228 participants of different sports disciplines such as volleyball, netball, handball 3X3 basketball and rugby 7’s, cross country and athletics.

The official opening ceremony was graced by Rev. Dr. Canon Duncans Mugumya (Commissioner in the ministry of education and sports), who represented the state minister for sports Hon Peter Ogwang.

According to the organizers, these games are a precursor to the upcoming Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association -FEASSSA Games that will be co-hosted by Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College, still in Teso zone.

Mr Julius Opasso, the head teacher of the host school, welcomed the guests and thanked USSSA for choosing, Teso College Aloet to host these games

Opasso who could not hide his happiness said such games help in talent identification and development, recreation among others Hajji Twahil Kitezeela, the chairperson of the local organizing committee commended the varying parties as Government, Ministry of education and sports, USSSA, organizing USSSA regions, for the collective roles undertaken to ensure that the games are successful.

Kitezeela said that at least 869 students enrolled for capacity building at these games in the various dockets of refereeing, coaching, media and others.

The Soroti city mayor Joshua Edogu lauded the organizers for selecting Soroti as the host of games of this magnitude.

“I want welcome all the participants and guests to Soroti city. I want to thank the ministry of education and sports for the choice of Soroti to host USSSA,” Edogu said.
