STATE MINISTER HELLEN ADOA APPLAUDS PRESIDENT MUSEVENI’S EFFORTS IN WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT

State Minister Hellen Adoa Applauds President Museveni’s Efforts in Women’s Empowerment

State Minister for Fisheries, Hellen Adoa, has commended President Yoweri Museveni for his dedication to empowering women across the country.

Speaking as the chief guest at the belated Soroti Women’s Day celebrations held on 20th March 2025 at Ocokican Primary School, Ocokican Sub-County, Soroti District, Adoa underscored the President’s role in elevating women to key leadership positions in government and beyond.

Adoa highlighted the remarkable strides made in women’s empowerment under President Museveni’s leadership, noting that women now hold influential positions in various sectors.

She cited Vice President Jessica Alupo and Speaker of Parliament Anita Among as examples of women who have risen to prominence under Museveni’s administration, particularly from the Teso sub-region.

Despite the progress, Adoa urged women to uphold humility even as they gain positions of power, emphasizing the importance of respecting men in their lives.

“Even when we are empowered, we must remain humble. Respect your husband, father, brother, and every man around you. Let us appreciate the different roles that God has assigned to both men and women,” she advised.

Adoa also acknowledged various government initiatives geared toward gender equality and economic empowerment, such as the Emyooga program and the Parish Development Model (PDM).

She, however, cautioned against mismanagement of these programs, urging beneficiaries to utilize the funds responsibly to improve their livelihoods.

“Let’s embrace the government program of PDM. This is the only program that has brought change to our lives, and therefore, let’s support it and grow with it,” she said.

The event, organized by Soroti District, was attended by State Minister for Disaster Preparedness Lilian Aber, Soroti District Woman MP Anna Adeke Ebaju, local leaders, and community members.
