Acaya has now thanked the government for supporting the district with transport as this was already a challenge in affecting the implementation of the GROW. The bike has been entrusted to Ms Sarah Aguti, Senior Community Development Officer and GROW's Focal Point Person.
Hellen Agwaro, the Chairperson Womens Council has urged focal point persons to utilize the motorcycle for mobilizing, facilitating, and overseeing GROW project efforts supporting women in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Meanwhile Agwaro, Chairperson of Soroti District Women's Council, emphasized the need for public sensitization and mobilization of women at the grassroots level.
"GROW is an excellent government initiative, but many women remain uninformed," she noted.
GROW is a government of Uganda initiative designed to meet the needs of women entrepreneurs looking to expand their businesses, maintain self-employment, and create new job opportunities.
The GROW project aims to address the structural barriers that hinder the growth of women-owned businesses. These barriers include financial inclusion, access to business development services, infrastructure improvements, and the promotion of women’s effective participation in the development process.
