RESIDENTS OF ODUDUI , ANGAI-AMINIT AND ABILIPIN IN SOROTI EXCITED OVER THE OPENING OF 13KM ROAD

Residents of Arapai sub county in Soroti district were on Thursday last week treated with exciting moments during the official launch the opening and construction of the 13km road.

The 13km, Phase one road works, funding from Development Discretionary Equalization Grant (DDEG), connects the two sub counties of Arapai and Katine, stretching Odudui trading center to Angai-Aminit -to Abilipin, was officially launched by the district officials.

Catharine Adongo, the resident of Odudu village expressed mixed feelings, saying that the opening of the raod will now boast the transports of the goods to the market.

“We are very excited as local residents, because this road is very strategic in terms of economic improvement, we shall use to transport commodities to the market,” said Adongo.

Michael Ocen, a resident of Abillipin said the opening of this road has been overdue. He that with the coming of Soroti district local government to open and construct this, it will now ease transport to the Dakabela health Centre III.

Julius Emetu, the Chairperson LC three commended government of Uganda for the project.

“This road will now enable the farmers to access markets for their produces, especially Amukaru Cattle markets, hence boosting revenue,” Emetu said.

District Chairperson Hon. Edoru Simon Peter Ekuu, said that the district leadership to will employ road gangs for routine maintenance of the road.

“As a district, we think by having the road gangs for routine maintenance, will improve marketing of production and road communication,” said Edoru.

While officially launching the road works, the Resident District Commissioner, Kumaketch Salim challenged the residents to ensure the guard the road jealously.
Kumaketch said that government is committed in ensuring that the road networks is improved across the district and therefore the locals must all play their part of proper use of the road.
