H.E PRESIDENT MUSEVENI CALLS ON THE YOUTH TO JOIN HIM FIGHTING CORRUPTION
H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has explored the youth to join him and other government agencies in fight against the corruption in Uganda
The President who was speaking as the Chief Guest during the International Youth Day celebrations on Monday, 12th, 2024 in Soroti Core Primary Teacher College said, the youth people should be in the fore front to help in fighting against corruption.
He said that government has given out money to facilitated the implementations of the many programs and projects and there has been diversion of the money.
“I want to you come and join in the fight against abuse and misuse of the government resources in public offices’” Mr president said.
He said that programs like Parish Development Model -PDM, “the Young people should interest themselves and seek for the accountability and any resources that given sends to the people,”
The President meanwhile discharged the youth from violent protest against that was recent seen in the areas of Kampala, “there is a better way to fight corruption and not going to the streets that is bad manners, lets us all the government structures put in place other disrupting people’s business while on the streets,”
“Please my young people desist from such groups of people who want to lead you to the bad directions with bad intentions,” said the President.
In the related development, the president preached the gospel of wealth creation to the young people, asking them to listing and practice in his message of the Four-acre model, production for commercial.
He said he has been the advocate of wealth creation and that Ugandans should listen his messages because wealth creation through government creates jobs for the people hence fighting poverty.
The International Youth Day that was celebrated in Soroti attracted thousands of people including different dignitaries both Internal and external, H.E the Vice President, Jesseca Alupo, European Union, UN representatives, Cabinet Ministers, State Ministers, Members of parliament, the Youth leadership from across the Country.
This year’s International Youth Day Celebration will be marked under the them Skills Development for Enhancement of youth Opportunities .
It in tradition to celebrate the International Youth Day is in conformity with the United Nations General Assembly resolution 54/120, that designated 12th August every year as International Youth Day to be commemorated by all United Nation Members States.
