THE UPDF ENGINEERS BRIGADE: BUILDING HOPE IN ASURET

The leadership of Soroti district local government has handed over the construction of Asuret health Centre III staff house.
The Facilities had been struggling with inadequate infrastructure, but a new chapter began when the UPDF Engineers Brigade took over the construction of a two in staff house.
In the handover event ceremony that took place last week in Asuret , the RDC Soroti district , Mr Kumakech Salim who was the chief guest said that the President and Commander in Chief of the UPDF H.E Gen YK Museveni, indicating that all Ministry of Health and Education infrastructure to be constructed by UPDF engineers since the latter do a cost-effective role.
Kumakech said that there is proven trust in using the UPDF Engineer Brigade to carryout capital projects and constructions.
“In you (UPDF) I trust that you are going to do due diligently work and this country, in NRM government we trust your works,” said Kumakech.
Kumakech was in the company of the District Internal Security Officer Mr, Olyet John, the district Chairperson, Mr Edoru Simon Peter Ekuu, CAO, Mr Ocen James Andrew, DHO, Mr Okadhi Charles and the sub county political and technical leadership and the community.
The Ministry of Health allocated Soroti district local government Uganda shillings 400,000 million for the construction of the a two in one staff house in Asuret Health Centre III for this current financial year of 2023/2024.
While giving his speech, the District Chairperson, Mr Edoru said that this significant investment highlights the local government's dedication to improving healthcare services and supporting those on the front lines.
“Today, we are not just launching a construction project; we are investing in the future of our community's health. By providing our health workers with safe and comfortable homes, we ensure they can perform their duties more effectively and remain dedicated to serving Soroti District,” said Edoru
Lt Solomon Kagogwe, the in charge Teso regional UPDF site commander, led his team with precision and passion. "We're not just building structures, we're building lives," he said.
Kagogwe said that the UPDF Engineers bridge is committed in ensuring that they make the best use of the resources allocated for the construction of the staff house.
Emphasizing the UPDF's commitment to community development. "Our engineers are honored to contribute to this vital project. We understand that good health infrastructure is the backbone of any community, and we are dedicated to delivering these homes on time and to the highest standards.
“We are not only building a staff house but we also here to restore hope and improved healthcare in Asuret, has it is expected of us”, said Kagogwe.
Currently, the UPDF Engineer Bridge is constructing the Soroti district new headquarters in Katine sub county, a constructed that was awarded to the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs at a cost of Ugx 10 billion, done at the phased manner.
