SOROTI DISTRICT LAUNCHES THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE MODERN SCIENCE LABORATORY FOR CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY AND PHYSICS, ICT LIBRARY IN DAKABELA COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY SCHOOL
Soroti District Launches the Construction of the modern Science Laboratory for Chemistry, Biology and Physics, ICT library in Dakabela Comprehensive Secondary School

The leadership of Soroti district local government has launched the construction of the Classroom block Dakabela Seed Secondary School.
The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Education and Sports injected Uganda Shillings 760,000 million for the construction of infrastructure for Dakabela Comprehensive Secondary School, under the Uganda intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program- UgiFT.
According to the District Education Officer, Mr James Oede, the money is meant for the construction of the of the modern Science Laboratory for Chemistry, Biology and Physics, ICT library, a 5-stance drainable pit latrine for learners, a 2-stance drainable Pit latrine for staff and a sport field.
The site was handed over to Ms Arcadian Construction and Alps Group as the constructor. Oede said the Dakabela Comprehensive Secondary School which was founded by the Community is in the process of being fully taken over by the government.
Mr David Erangu, the Head teacher of the school, applauded government support in improving the infrastructure of the school. He added that the school shall be equipped enough to compete with the elite schools in the region such as Teso College Aloet -TCA.
Meanwhile the District Chairperson Soroti district, Mr. Simon Peter Edoru Ekuu commended the government for taking over school from the community. Edoru said the community started the school but had challenges mostly associated with administration running, “am happy that the government has committed to taking over the school.
He said that “as we are aware that the President of Uganda is now emphasizing to need to have a science lead economy, now with the construction of the Science Laboratory, ICT library, this therefore gives as sense that we are in the right direction to support the President idea of promoting the teaching of science subjects in our school,”.
The Soroti District Resident Commissioner, Mr Salim Kumaketch challenged the community of Arapai sub county where the school is located to embrace the government program by ensuring that the success of the construction of the school infrastructure is achieved.
Kumaketch said that government is committed in improving the accessibility standards of the education in our country, “Government is implementing it policy of the ensuing that in every sub county there is a government aided Secondary school,”
Dakabela seed secondary school has a total population enrollment of 502 students and it projected that student enrollment to shoot up with the provision of the modern science laboratory.
