Community Development Officers (CDOs), Parish Chiefs, and Agricultural Extension staff have undergone capacity-building training on the Parish Data Management Information System (PDMIS) in preparation for the third phase disbursement of the Parish Development Model funds.

The training, held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the district council hall, aimed at equipping participants with skills in utilizing PDMIS to enhance the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM).

Ms. Joy Christine Apolot, the Senior Commercial Officer, explained that the PDMIS-FIS training program is designed to teach stakeholders how to effectively use the system for profiling beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model SACCOs.

Apolot emphasized that Parish Chiefs and CDOs will leverage PDMIS-FIS to collect, analyze, store, and disseminate data at the parish level while also facilitating the development of work plans, budgets, and performance reports.

The Chief Administrative Officer of Soroti, Mr. Elly Piwang, in his welcoming remarks, highlighted that PDMIS would play a crucial role in tracking the implementation of strategic interventions.

Piwang further noted that the system would enhance the government’s ability to monitor and evaluate local economic development initiatives.

Meanwhile, the District Chairperson LCV, Mr. Edoru Simon Peter Ekuu, while officially opening the half-day training, stressed the importance of documenting PDM success stories.

He noted that since its inception, PDM has significantly impacted communities, and profiling these success stories would be instrumental in tracking the program’s progress and effectiveness.

Additionally, Mr. Paul Eseru, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Soroti, called for beneficiary training on project selection. He emphasized the need for beneficiaries to receive guidance on selecting viable enterprises under the PDM framework to ensure sustainable economic development.

The training marks a significant step toward strengthening the implementation of the PDM, equipping key personnel with the necessary skills to optimize service delivery and enhance community development.

Recently, Parish Chiefs and CDOs received tablets from the Ministry of ICT to support the implementation of PDM, enhancing data management and reporting efficiency.
