New Projects of Education and Works department launched.

OnTuesday 14th december 2021 , Soroti District Local Government launched new projectsof the Education and Works department for the FY 2021/22. 

Theprojects include, Gwetom Abango 12.2 Km road in Ocokican sub county for Works departmentwhich is of a  periodic road maintenanceat a tune of 30,000,00 million shillings under Uganda Road Fund.

Education,a two-classroom black in Amoroto Primary school in Awalwal sub county, at costof Ug 89,702, 066 million and staff house in Kelim P/S in Tubur sub county atcost of Ug 90,043,000million. 

Thelaunching exercises was headed by the district RDC Patrick Okumu.

 Whilelaunching, RDC challenged the contractor against the shoddy works. He said thatsome of the contractors are fond of doing unbearable work.

Okumuwarns that being the Government project monitor, he will not entertain any shoddyworks.

TheLC-5 Chairperson Simon Peter Edoru asked the community to embrace Education.

“Schoolsare set to re-open next year 2022, I call upon the parents to provide necessityto their children,” he said.

Healso asked the community to ensure they inspect the work of the contractor whileon carrying work as this will help address the issue of shoddy work.

Meanwhile,CAO Soroti Aggrey Muramira said the district is committed to ensuring there isservice delivery.

 Muramiraasked the community of Soroti to embrace government projects whenever they arebrought because this is intended in addressing and improving social wellbeing.

 Hesaid the government is already coming up with a Parish Development Model that isexpected to kick off by next year 2022.
